rea doctor says healthy: false
What you see
rea doctor --json reports "healthy": false with a list of failures: Hopper, Ghidra, IDA, JADX…

{"healthy": false, "scope": {"mode": "audit-wide"}}

{"name": "skill:identity", "ok": false, "detail": "Installed REA skill identity is missing.", "remediation": "Run rea setup to update the installed REA skill."}Tested 2026-10-27 on macOS 15.6.1 with REA 6.8.0. Output from a machine with no analysis engines installed.
Why it happens
Without options, doctor audits **every** agent and **every** analysis engine it can find. Engines you don't use, such as an uninstalled Hopper or IDA, count as failures, so healthy can be false even when your setup works. REA's docs say the same.
How to fix it
Check only what you use. With a scope,
healthydepends only on those checks:npx rea-agents doctor --client cursor --jsonnpx rea-agents doctor --provider ghidra --jsonnpx rea-agents doctor --skill --jsonRead
scope_checks: they decidehealthy.informational_checksare for reference and don't change the result.If you do use Ghidra and it reports
GHIDRA_INSTALL_DIR is not set, set the paths and check again (see the install guide):export GHIDRA_INSTALL_DIR="/absolute/path/to/ghidra_12.1.4_PUBLIC" export JAVA_HOME="/absolute/path/to/jdk-21" npx rea-agents doctor --provider ghidra --jsonIn Windows PowerShell:
$env:GHIDRA_INSTALL_DIR = "C:\path\to\ghidra_12.1.4_PUBLIC" $env:JAVA_HOME = "C:\path\to\jdk-21" npx rea-agents doctor --provider ghidra --json
Start again with steps for your agent and OS.
